The BSC ensures that utilization of retrieved biospecimen will be in compliance with highest ethical, legal, and regulatory standards. It also ensures that donor rights and confidentiality are safeguarded.
Institutional Review Board (IRB)
The Institutional Review Board (IRB) reviews each Biobank protocol and informed consent form to protect the rights, welfare, and privacy of all human research subjects. The quality assurance team of IRB research compliance routinely audits Biobank records to ensure that strict applicable standards for protection of human subjects (donors), including Good Clinical Practice (GCP), are consistently met.
Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC)
The Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) oversees the appropriate handling of potential bio-hazardous specimens and standards for collection, storage and disposal of the biospecimen collected. It also provides local oversight to all research activities involving rDNA, bodily fluids, and other biospecimens.
