Ochsner Journal Cover

The cover art for the Spring 2022 issue of the Ochsner Journal is by a 2021 graduate of Ochsner Clinical School, Daniel M. Zumsteg, who created an original illustration for a case report about a shoulder injury sustained during indoor skydiving.

Six original research articles, one contemporary update paper, two quarterly columns, and seven case reports and clinical observations serve as the principal elements for the first issue of the Journal in Ochsner’s 80th anniversary year. This year, as in years past, the Ochsner Journal will continue its meaningful contributions to the realization of Ochsner’s mission to “serve, heal, lead, educate, and innovate.”

As a wonderful complement to Ochsner’s anniversary, the issue includes a letter from Dr Mark Hoffer, a distinguished orthopedic surgeon who did his residency at Ochsner in the 1960s and worked with founder Dr Guy Caldwell. Dr Hoffer writes on the theme of mentorship and its importance.

The Journal will celebrate Ochsner’s anniversary throughout 2022, and the Top Topics feature at the website currently includes links to articles from the archives about the five founders. Drs. Hector Ventura and Eddy Randrup wrote and published these profiles in 2002 and 2003, and we are delighted to introduce them to new readers.

The Ochsner Journal is published quarterly. To subscribe to the electronic table of contents and receive notification when new issues are published, click to the alerts page at the Journal website and enter your email address.
