The Collaborative Undergraduate Research Experience (CURE) is a summer research internship with the University of New Orleans. CURE engages UNO undergraduate students with hands-on experience working alongside physicians and researchers at medical research labs at Ochsner.

The program was developed by Dr. Kevin Conrad, an Ochsner Medical Center hospitalist and UNO graduate. Dr. Conrad established the program to provide UNO pre-medicine students with an opportunity to gain a fresh perspective on medical research. This is a skill set which many medical schools now place an increased emphasis on with admission.

CURE supports five exceptional UNO pre-med students by providing an opportunity to work in tandem with Ochsner’s Research Department. As interns, the students conduct meaningful research activities over a seven-week period in the summer.

In addition to specific research projects, interns attend medical student lectures and grand rounds, participate in professional development activities, and receive one-on-one mentoring.
