About Dr. Edward D. Frohlich

Dr. Frohlich was a cherished member of the Ochsner family for over 40 years. He joined Ochsner as a young physician at a time when little was known about hypertensive disease. His pioneering work in investigative clinical and experimental hypertension established an international reputation and significantly elevated Ochsner as a premier research institution. Dr. Frohlich’s research was foundational in demonstrating that hypertension is a manageable and preventable chronic disease. He served as editor-in-chief of the prestigious journal Hypertension and held academic appointments at LSU, Tulane, and the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Frohlich received numerous accolades including Ochsner’s 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award and the establishment of the Edward D. Frohlich Researcher of the Year award. His legacy continues through the generations of scientists and physicians he trained and the countless patients whose lives he impacted.

Salima Qamruddin, MD

Dr. Qamruddin is the Director of Echocardiography Quality and Research, Director of the Women’s Cardiovascular Wellness Clinic, and a senior lecturer in the UQ-Ochsner Doctor of Medicine Program. Her work, particularly in women's cardiovascular wellness, focuses on heart valve disease, diagnostic ultrasound technologies, and raising awareness about heart disease in women. She has numerous publications and has received several research grants supporting her innovative projects.
