The Institute of Translational Research (ITR) is home to Ochsner’s laboratory-based research. Our primary mission is to conduct original and innovative research in order to better understand the underlying causes of human diseases, with the ultimate goal of translating this knowledge into clinical applications that improve human health.
The Institute supports ongoing Research Programs in multiple medical disciplines including Molecular Cardiovascular, Cancer and Infectious Disease. Our nationally- and internationally-recognized research Faculty employ state-of-the-art technologies in molecular and cellular biology, physiology and bioinformatics to maintain research programs at the cutting edge of science and medicine. ITR investigators also participate in several Educational Programs designed to highlight the impact of scientific research on everyday life and spark an interest in science among elementary and secondary students.
