Louisiana Experiment in Assessing Diabetes Outcomes
The overall goal of this project will be to use a natural experiment design to examine the health and economic impacts of a recently implemented CPT code (99490) for chronic care management in reducing the risks and complications of diabetes by the CenterS for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
- To measure the uptake and influencing factors (e.g., racial/ethnic disparities) of using the CMS care coordination reimbursement code across the LaCDRN health systems.
- To measure the impacts of the CMS care coordination reimbursement on health outcomes: glycemic control, treatment adherence, patient-reported outcomes (PRO), and health care utilization.
